HyperSmooth 2.0 Video Stabilisation

Improved HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilisation helps capture super-steady looking footage without needing to carry around a gimbal. Three different stabilisation levels let you set the intensity of the stabilisation depending on the type of action. Best of all though, Hypersmooth is now available in all resolutions and frame rates including slow motion. There is also an all-new ‘Boost’ mode for ultra-steady footage.

TimeWarp 2.0 with Speed Control

Shooting Hyperlapse, Motionlapse and super surreal moving time-lapses is easier than ever with the new-and-improved TimeWarp 2.0 feature which combines the hypersmooth mode with the original TimeWarp mode. Choose between an automatic speed selection or set it yourself and now there is a cool new feature that allows you to take control manually and touch the screen to drop back to real-time and night-lapses can also be created in-camera now.

Record Video with an Improved H.265 Codec

GoPro have inspired millions to push the limits of what is possible and now they are pushing the boundaries for video formats, with the adoption of the cutting edge HEVC codec. Now you can capture incredibly high-quality video with fast frame rates, high resolution, and 100Mbps recording in 4K and 2.7K without filling up your storage with gigantic file sizes. It also supports 4K in 60p and 30p with the Linear Mode, which reduces distortion, for editing together with regular cameras.

SuperPhoto Mode with Better HDR

The GoPro Hero 8 is an impressive video camera but it’s also a super-capable stills camera that captures 12-megapixel RAW images. The HERO 8 Black now offers a foolproof automatic SuperPhoto mode that takes multiple images and then uses a sophisticated algorithm to increase contrast, bring out the detail, and increase the vibrancy of your shots. Not only that but it improves the dynamic range of the scene while still controlling ghosting which can occur when combining multiple images.

LiveBurst Mode with Pre-Shoot Photo Buffer

A new LiveBurst photo mode captures up to 90 still images with an ultra-fast 30 fps burst that can exported as a 3 second 4K video clip or each individual frame can be exported. This mode also offers a pre-shoot option that captures 1.5 seconds before you press the shutter as well as 1.5 seconds after, ensuring you capture the perfect moment, even if you’re a bit slow pressing the button.

Easy-to-use Digital Lenses

GoPro’s are well known for their ultra-wide view but with the HERO 8, changing your frame is as easy as choose one of four digital lenses on the side of the touch screen. This means you can use a wide angle for a landscape and within seconds be ready to capture portraits of your friends and family without needing to change lenses or add anything on the end of your camera.

Capture Presets and Customisable Control Modes

With a series of built-in shooting presets you can be ready to capture different moments in seconds. Choose from options that are best suited for a particular shooting situation like when the camera is mounted to something, or when you want to shoot slow motion or if you’re looking to create particularly cinematic looking footage. The best part about these presets though, is that they are customisable so you can set your own, making changing settings quicker and easier than ever!

Triple Microphones and Voice Control

Boasting three microphones at the front, the side, and on the bottom of the camera the mics are carefully positioned to reduce wind noise, allowing the HERO8 to capture high fidelity audio even when recording in super loud or windy environments. Controlling your GoPro hands-free is easier than ever with a choice of 14 voice commands that help you start recording, take a photo or turn the camera on, even when it’s just out of reach.

Go Live with Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Connectivity

Share your story and experiences in real-time because the HERO8 supports video streaming for Facebook and YouTube live now in Full HD 1080p. The camera has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection allowing you to connect it to your mobile device. Once connected the GoPro apps can enable live streaming, remote triggering, live preview and make editing your footage super easy. There is even a new horizon levelling feature that helps you adjust your video in case you mounted your GoPro a little crooked.

Built in- Mount and Optional Battery Mod

The Go Pro HERO 8 Black features a new built-in mount or as GoPro call it, a pair of ‘folding fingers’ that eradicate the need for a mounting frame, so you’ll never have to worry about forgetting it again. The battery door is relocated to the side rather than the base, making it easier to swap batteries. There will also be a battery mod available to connect bigger batteries for longer recording.
